The Mind Of A Servant - Including Worship

What does it truly mean to serve? Not as a volunteer who shows up when it is convenient, but as someone whose entire life belongs to another? Philippians 2:1-11 pulls back the curtain on what the New Testament calls the mind of a servant, and what we find there is both humbling and liberating. The passage opens not with a list of demands but with a reminder of everything we have already received in Christ. Encouragement, comfort, participation in the Spirit, affection and sympathy. Paul's logic is striking: we do not serve in order to earn God's favor. We serve because his favor has already been lavished on us. Grace does not terminate at the moment of faith. It transforms us and then moves through us into the world around us. That realization alone has the power to change the entire posture of our lives. When we understand the magnitude of the debt that has been paid on our behalf, the question stops being what do I get out of this and starts being how can I be of service to you.
