5-Day Devotional (10/19/2025-10/25/2025)

Day 1: Prioritizing God's Plan
Reading: Proverbs 3:5-6, Romans 12:1-2
Devotional: In Acts 21, we see Paul's unwavering commitment to God's plan, even in the face of warnings and pleas from his friends. Like Paul, we are called to prioritize God's voice over human opinions or our own desires. Today, reflect on areas in your life where you might be resisting God's guidance. Are there comfort zones you're clinging to? Pray for the courage to fully surrender your plans to God, trusting that His ways are higher than our own. Consider how you can intentionally incorporate "Godward things" into your daily schedule, seeking to be a witness for Christ in every interaction and decision.

Day 2: Perceiving God's Warnings
Reading: Psalm 25:4-5, James 1:2-4
Devotional: God's guidance sometimes includes foresight into challenges we may face. These warnings aren't meant to discourage us, but to prepare our hearts for trials ahead. Reflect on Paul's attitude towards suffering - he saw it as part of his calling and an opportunity to glorify God. Are there difficulties in your life that you've been viewing as obstacles rather than opportunities for growth and witness? Ask God for discernment to recognize His warnings and the strength to face trials with courage. How might your perspective on challenges change if you viewed them through the lens of God's purpose for your life?

Day 3: Persisting in God's Calling
Reading: Philippians 3:12-14, 2 Timothy 4:7-8
Devotional: Paul's persistence in following God's call, even when it led to suffering, challenges us to examine our own commitment. In a world that increasingly pushes back against Christian values, are we willing to stand firm in our faith? Reflect on what it means to "never waste a good arrest" like Paul - using every circumstance, even difficult ones, to proclaim the gospel. Ask God to reveal areas where you might be shrinking back from fully living out your calling. Pray for the steadfastness to persist in God's plan for you, regardless of potential consequences or discomfort.

Day 4: Trusting God's Foresight Over Human Caution
Reading: Isaiah 55:8-9, Jeremiah 29:11-13
Devotional: When God's direction conflicts with human wisdom or caution, we're faced with a critical choice. Paul chose to trust God's foresight over the well-meaning advice of his friends. This requires deep faith and confidence in God's character. Today, meditate on times when God's guidance seemed counterintuitive to you or others. How did those situations unfold? Ask God to increase your trust in His perfect knowledge and loving plans for your life. Consider areas where you might be relying more on human understanding than on God's wisdom, and pray for the courage to step out in faith.

Day 5: Living as Sojourners
Reading: 1 Peter 2:11-12, Hebrews 11:13-16
Devotional: The sermon reminds us that this world is not our ultimate home - we are sojourners passing through. This perspective radically changes how we approach our daily lives and decisions. Reflect on how your priorities and actions might shift if you consistently remembered your heavenly citizenship. How would it impact your work, relationships, and use of resources? Challenge yourself to view your week through this lens, intentionally looking for ways to be "salt and light" in every situation. Pray for a renewed focus on eternal things and the courage to live counter-culturally as a representative of God's kingdom.
