5-Day Devotional
Day 1: Expectant Faith
Reading: Acts 1:12-14
Devotional: The disciples gathered in the upper room with an expectant faith, waiting for the promised Holy Spirit. Their unwavering belief in Christ's words kept them there, united in purpose. Today, reflect on your own faith. Do you approach your spiritual life with expectancy? Are you waiting on God's promises with patience and trust? Ask God to renew your faith and help you cultivate an attitude of expectancy in your daily walk with Him.
Day 2: The Power of Unity in Prayer
Reading: Ephesians 4:1-6
Devotional: The early believers were "with one accord" as they devoted themselves to prayer. Despite their diverse backgrounds and personalities, they found unity in their shared purpose. Consider how unity in the body of Christ can strengthen our prayers and our witness. Are there areas in your life where differences are causing division? Pray for God's help in fostering unity with fellow believers, setting aside personal preferences for the sake of the gospel.
Day 3: Dependence on God's Guidance
Reading: Proverbs 3:5-6
Devotional: The apostles demonstrated their dependence on God by seeking His will through prayer and the casting of lots. They recognized their need for divine guidance in making important decisions. Reflect on areas in your life where you need God's direction. Are you truly depending on Him, or are you relying on your own understanding? Commit to seeking God's will in both big and small decisions, trusting that His ways are higher than our ways.
Day 4: The Promise of the Holy Spirit
Reading: John 14:15-17, 25-26
Devotional: Jesus promised the disciples that the Holy Spirit would come to guide and empower them. This same Holy Spirit dwells in all believers today. How aware are you of the Holy Spirit's presence in your daily life? Ask God to heighten your sensitivity to the Spirit's leading and to fill you anew with His power. Consider how you might live differently if you were constantly aware of the Holy Spirit's presence within you.
Day 5: Called for More
Reading: Ephesians 3:14-21
Devotional: The sermon emphasized that we are "made for more" - more than we can imagine or understand. God has a greater purpose for each of us. Meditate on Paul's prayer for the Ephesians, especially the part about God doing "immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine." What might God be calling you to that seems beyond your current capabilities? Pray for the courage to step out in faith, trusting in God's power working within you to accomplish His purposes.
