5-Day Devotional (4/20/2025-4/26/2025)
Day 1: Being Used Where You Are
Reading: Acts 8:1-8
Devotional: God often works through unexpected circumstances. The early Christians faced persecution, yet they used this as an opportunity to spread the Gospel. Reflect on a challenging situation in your life. How might God be calling you to share His love and truth in that context? Remember, our current circumstances, even if difficult, can be fertile ground for God's work. Pray for wisdom to see opportunities to serve God wherever you are.
Day 2: Pursuing Jesus, Not His Power
Reading: Acts 8:9-24
Devotional: Simon the magician was attracted to the power he saw in the apostles, but missed the true essence of faith. How often do we chase after the gifts rather than the Giver? Today, examine your heart. Are you seeking Jesus for who He is, or for what He can do for you? True discipleship means following Christ for His sake alone. Ask God to purify your motivations and deepen your love for Him.
Day 3: The Holy Spirit's Work in Believers
Reading: Acts 2:1-13, Galatians 5:22-23
Devotional: The Holy Spirit's coming marked a new era for believers. While the Spirit's manifestation in Acts was sometimes dramatic, His everyday work in us is no less profound. Consider the fruit of the Spirit listed in Galatians. Which of these qualities do you see growing in your life? Which ones need more development? Invite the Holy Spirit to continue His transforming work in you today.
Day 4: Overcoming Prejudice with the Gospel
Reading: John 4:1-26
Devotional: Philip's ministry in Samaria broke down long-standing cultural barriers. Jesus himself modeled this in His encounter with the Samaritan woman. Are there people or groups you tend to avoid or look down upon? The Gospel calls us to see every person as valuable in God's eyes. Ask God to help you see others as He sees them and to give you opportunities to share His love across cultural or social divides.
Day 5: Finding Joy in the Midst of Trials
Reading: James 1:2-4, Romans 5:3-5
Devotional: Despite persecution, there was "great joy in that city" (Acts 8:8) as people encountered Christ. The Bible often links joy with trials, not because suffering is good, but because it can deepen our faith. Reflect on a current challenge you're facing. How might God be using this to strengthen your character or draw you closer to Him? Thank God for His presence in your trials and ask for the supernatural joy that comes from knowing Him.
