5-Day Devotional: Entrust The Gospel

Day 1: Rooted in Grace Before You Give

Reading: John 15:1-8

Devotional: Before you can pour into anyone else, you must first be receiving from Christ. The vine does not ask the branch to produce fruit on its own strength. It asks the branch to remain. Mentoring, discipleship, and spiritual investment in others all flow from one source: the grace of Christ working in you. If you find yourself feeling unqualified to help someone else follow Jesus, that feeling may actually be the right starting point. You are unqualified apart from him. But in him, connected to him, drawing from him daily, fruit becomes inevitable. Stay connected. Everything else follows from that.

Reflection: Am I drawing daily strength from Christ, or am I trying to give others what I have not first received myself?

Practical Application: Begin each morning this week by asking Christ to fill you before you go out to serve, lead, or invest in others.





Day 2: You Were Never the Destination

Reading: 2 Timothy 2:1-2

Devotional: Paul's words to Timothy carry an urgency that is easy to miss. He is not simply encouraging Timothy to grow. He is reminding him that what he has received is not his to keep. The gospel came to Timothy through Paul, and it was always meant to travel further. The same is true for every believer. Someone prayed for you. Someone opened the Word with you. Someone answered your questions in a season of doubt. You were not the final stop on that journey. You were a waypoint. The grace that reached you was always intended to reach someone standing behind you.

Reflection: Who in your life first helped you understand the gospel or what it means to follow Jesus?

Practical Application: Write down the name of one person who spiritually invested in you. Spend time in prayer thanking God for them and asking who you are now called to invest in.





Day 3: Intentionality Is Not Optional

Reading: Matthew 28:18-20

Devotional: Jesus did not say go and hope that people figure it out. He said go and make disciples. The word make implies effort, intention, and time. Discipleship does not happen accidentally. It happens when a believer decides to look around their life and ask who God has already placed there that needs someone to walk alongside them. You do not need a formal program or a seminary degree. You need willingness and consistency. The person who needs your investment may already be in your life. They may be sitting near you at church, working beside you, or living under your roof. Intentionality begins with simply looking.

Reflection: Have you been waiting for a formal opportunity to disciple someone when God may have already placed that person in your life?

Practical Application: Identify one person in your life who could benefit from a more intentional spiritual relationship with you. Do not reach out yet. Simply begin praying for them by name this week.





Day 4: The Math of Multiplication

Reading: 2 Timothy 2:2

Devotional: Paul's vision in this single verse spans four generations: Paul to Timothy, Timothy to faithful people, those faithful people to others. He was not thinking in terms of addition. He was thinking in terms of multiplication. One life invested in another, which then invests in another, which then invests in another. This is how the gospel has traveled across centuries and continents. Not through programs alone, but through people who refused to let what they received stop with them. The church grows not simply when new people arrive, but when those who arrive are being shaped to eventually send others. You are part of a chain that began long before you and is meant to extend far beyond you.

Reflection: If the people you are currently investing in spiritually were to invest in others the same way, what would that produce?

Practical Application: Think about one area of your own spiritual life where you have grown significantly. Consider how you might share that growth, those lessons, or that experience with someone who is earlier in their journey.





Day 5: The Question That Changes Everything

Reading: 2 Timothy 3:14-15

Devotional: Timothy was reminded of where his faith came from. He knew from whom he had learned it. There were names and faces behind his convictions. That is not incidental. It is the design. Faith is passed from person to person, from generation to generation, through relationship and intentional investment. The question the church must carry is not only am I being fed, but who am I feeding. Not only who is helping me grow, but who am I helping to grow. This is not a call reserved for pastors or ministry leaders. It is the call placed on every believer who has received the grace of Christ. So ask the question honestly: Who is your Timothy?

Reflection: If you were to look back on your life ten years from now, who would you want to say that you helped follow Jesus more faithfully?

Practical Application: This week, pray one specific prayer each day: Lord, show me my Timothy. Then remain attentive to the people God places in your path, your conversations, and your thoughts throughout the week.
