5 Day-Devotional: Now Let’s Live It
Day 1: Rooted and Growing
Reading: Ephesians 4:11-16
Devotional: Spiritual growth is not optional for the follower of Christ. Paul makes clear that God has designed His church to grow continually toward maturity, reflecting the fullness of Christ Himself. Yet growth does not happen accidentally. It requires intentionality. Just as a tree does not grow by having green leaves painted on its branches, genuine spiritual maturity cannot be manufactured through religious routine or outward appearance. It comes through deep roots drawn into the nourishment of God's Word and the ongoing work of His Spirit. Ask yourself today: am I genuinely growing, or am I simply maintaining the appearance of growth?
Practical Application: Identify one specific habit, whether daily Scripture reading, prayer, or a solid theological resource, that you will commit to this week as an intentional step toward spiritual growth.
Day 2: Every Part Matters
Reading: 1 Corinthians 12:12-27
Devotional: One of the greatest lies the enemy whispers to believers is that their contribution does not matter. That someone else is more gifted, more experienced, more capable. Paul dismantles that lie entirely. Every member of the body has been placed there by God, equipped with a spiritual gift meant to serve the whole. The church does not need spectators. It needs participants. Connecting to others in the body of Christ means moving beyond attendance and into active, faithful contribution. You are not a spare part. You are a necessary one. The body functions properly only when every member fulfills their calling.
Practical Application: Reflect honestly on whether you are actively contributing to the spiritual health of your church or simply attending. Identify one specific way you can serve the body this week and follow through.
Day 3: Truth, Love, and Maturity
Reading: Ephesians 4:14-15; 2 Timothy 3:16-17
Devotional: Biblical truth is not merely an academic pursuit reserved for pastors and theologians. It is the foundation upon which every believer must stand. Paul warns that a church without deep biblical grounding becomes vulnerable, easily tossed about by false teaching and cultural pressure. The antidote is not simply more information. It is the truth of God's Word, received humbly, believed deeply, and spoken in love. Discernment is not a gift given to a select few. It is the fruit of a life consistently saturated in Scripture. A believer who stops growing in the Word stops growing in the ability to recognize what is true.
Practical Application: Examine your current relationship with Scripture. Are you reading it consistently and prayerfully? Choose one book of the Bible to read through this month with the specific intention of growing in biblical understanding.
Day 4: Sent With Good News
Reading: Matthew 28:18-20; Romans 10:13-15
Devotional: The Great Commission is not a suggestion extended to the most committed Christians. It is the command of Christ to His entire church. Every believer has been entrusted with the message of reconciliation. The gospel we have received is the gospel we are called to proclaim. You may never preach from a pulpit, but you are called to bear witness. Through a conversation with a neighbor. Through an investment in a struggling coworker. Through a faithful, consistent presence in someone's life. Connecting others to God requires intentional pursuit, not passive hope that people will simply find their way. The message is too urgent to admire from a distance.
Practical Application: Identify one person in your life who does not yet know Christ. Commit to praying for them daily this week and ask God for one intentional opportunity to share the gospel or invest in their life.
Day 5: The Mission Continues
Reading: Philippians 1:3-11; Colossians 1:28-29
Devotional: The mission of the church does not end when a sermon series concludes. It does not pause between Sunday mornings. It continues in every ordinary moment of the week. In the opened Bible on a Tuesday morning. In the encouraging word offered to a struggling brother. In the faithful prayer lifted for a prodigal. In the honest gospel conversation over a meal. Christ is the head of the church, and He is the one who equips, sustains, and ultimately accomplishes His purposes through His people. We are not left to carry this mission in our own strength. We are called to be faithful, and He is the one who causes growth.
Practical Application: Write down three specific and concrete commitments: one step toward personal spiritual growth, one way you will serve and build up the body of Christ, and one person in whom you will intentionally invest for the sake of the gospel. Return to this list at the end of the week and evaluate your faithfulness.
